Camden Needle and Syringe Exchange (NEX)

This locally commissioned service (LCS ) provides access to sterile needles and syringes, and sharps containers for return of used equipment as described in the service specification.

Eligibility criteria: all adult (aged 18 years or over) injectors (including steroid users) who are using drugs illicitly.

Supplies, waste collection and queries
All LCS contractors providing the needle exchange service will be expected to offer the supervised self-administration of opiods substitutes service, stock naloxone kits and have their staff trained in the administration of naloxone. Health and wellbeing (Public Health) will fund backfill locum cover as part of their training offer. Camden’s integrated drug and alcohol service provider (Change Grow Live) will deliver the training and provide naloxone kits to pharmacies.
